More About Us

Shetland Rural Experience Centre stems from a family-run croft in Shetland’s North Mainland. The small team work sheep and working border-collies that we train to run in dog trials and work alongside us on the croft! We work closely with folk in Shetland and from further afield if they need any further support with working dogs or crofts.

The business started with David & Isla wanting to share more about his experience in Shetland and his working dogs. David competed as far as Belgium with his working dogs throughout the years. David passed away in 2025, and you can learn more about his legacy on our website. Isla shared this passion, and the business welcomes visitors throughout the summer.
